Last week spent time reflecting on and writing about some of our recents Out & Abouts, including a timeline of B Street field and wetland, and a study of native plants and how they benefit native animals. We finished our final preparations for Student-Led Conferences. We rehearsed our conferences with partners to be ready to share with you! Thank you so much to those of you that were able to come and celebrate your child's growth on Thursday! In math, first graders worked on adding ones and multiples of ten to any number. They used a variety of strategies to add two two-digit numbers. First Graders may now complete assignments through Module 5 Lesson 22. Last week Module 6 homework books were sent home with first graders. Second graders practiced the math portion of their conference packet. They also learned to determine whether to use a benchmark number in the tens or in the hundreds when choosing the compensation strategy to solve 3-digit addition and subtraction problems within 1,000. Second Grade students can complete any pages in their Module 4 homework books up through Lesson 14.

Announcements & Reminders: Please make sure you send your child to school with a rain jacket, a water bottle and rain boots (even when the weather report predicts no rain). We will be spending more time outside as the weather gets warmer. Weather is unpredictable so a jacket and boots keep everyone comfortable, and water bottles are important because children get thirsty at recess, P.E. and during outings to the garden.
Care Closet: The Care Closet provides hygiene, food and toiletries for any student in need. Any student can request items for a one-time need or ongoing. Students/adults complete the form on paper (available in the office or from your student's teacher) or online. Bags are left with students or in the office. All requests are private and all students may request items for a one-time need or multiple times. You can use this link to request items from the Care Closet that Level 4 has organized: Care Closet Request Form
