We will celebrate Valentine's Day on Wednesday (Friendship Day). If you decide to send your child to school with Valentine cards, please make sure that they have one for each child in our class, and do not send candy. Thank you! Last week we read fiction and nonfiction books about shadows. In writing, students began fictional stories about a shadow. On Thursday afternoon we split our time between making shadow puppets in the classroom, and music class with McKenzie Peterson. In math first graders worked subtracting a one-digit number from a two-digit number using a variety of strategies and showing their work. First Graders may now complete assignments through Module 3 Lesson 26. Module 4 workbooks went home last week. Second graders began studying polygons and ended the week studying different types of quadrilaterals. Second Grade students can complete any pages in their homework books through Module 3 Lesson 4. During our discussions about kindness, some of your children came up with the idea of providing food to those that are hungry. If you would like to help with this you can donate nonperishable food (canned/packaged) and we will deliver it to the Blessing Box outside of UCC. Another idea your children came up with was to donate used books to the Little Free library. These do not need to be new, so if you have books that you no longer read and would like to send them, we will add them to Little Free Libraries. Volunteers Needed! Please email Erin, [email protected], to help on the dates below:
Thursday, February 15th, 1-3: Kindness Crafts. Help students prepare cards, love rocks and snacks to share with our community.
Friday, February 16th, 10:30-11:40: Kindness Parade. Join us on an kindness-spreading adventure through town as we deliver our goodies!
Thursday, February 22nd, 1-3: Garden bird investigation & shadow puppets.
