Last week we read books about New Year's Celebrations around the world and light energy. Students worked on fine tuning their personal narratives by adding dialogue, feelings, and specific verbs to describe movement. On Thursday explored light energy by rotating through mini-labs where students learned about the qualities of things being transparent, translucent and opaque, and experimented with refracting and redirecting a beam of light. The worked on a firefly craft after learning how bioluminescence works. In math first graders worked to solve addition equations by regrouping addends to make one of the addends 10. First Graders may now complete assignments through Module 3 Lesson 11. Second graders continued practicing strategies for solving three-digit subtraction problems. Second Grade students can complete any pages through Module 2 Lesson 19.
Reminder: Please have your child keep a full change of clothes in their backpack. It is often necessary, especially during this cold, wet weather!
