News: Swallows read about social emotional topics such as belonging, welcoming others and friendship. They practiced writing skills by labeling drawings and writing sentences about their drawings. (We like to ease into writing with low-stakes writing assignments so children get a chance to write at their own skill level without feeling intimated.) In math, first graders practiced adding by counting on. In second grade math, students used tape diagrams and number lines to answer subtraction word problems involving finding how many more or how many fewer.
Reminders & Announcements:
Please have your child leave all toys at home. A lost toy, jewelry, or item hanging off of a backpack can be a big distraction to a young learner.
Send your child to school ready to learn and play outdoors. (Sturdy shoes or boots, layers, raincoats, and warm coats as the weather cools.)
On October 6th at 9:00 we will be performing a song at the All School Meeting. The meeting is held in the auditorium of the District Office on Main Street.
