Last week, Swallows read books about habitats, paying close attention to forest habitats and the parts of a forest habitat in preparation for our Out & About to the Oregon Bird Alliance on Thursday. On Thursday, we visited the Oregon Bird Alliance where students took a hike to learn about the different habitat features of the forest. They also imagined being a forest animal and searched to find the things needed for them to survive. In math, first graders learned a variety of strategies for on adding two two-digit numbers, such as adding tens first, adding ones first, and adding to make the next ten. First Graders may now complete assignments through Module 5 Lesson 25. We are now beginning Module 6 , our last module of the year. Second graders practiced strategies for solving 3-digit subtraction problems. Second Grade students can complete any pages in their Module 4 homework books up through Lesson 18.

Announcements & Reminders: Please make sure you send your child to school with a rain jacket, a water bottle and rain boots (even when the weather report predicts no rain). We will be spending more time outside as the weather gets warmer. Weather is unpredictable so a jacket and boots keep everyone comfortable, and water bottles are important because children get thirsty at recess, P.E. and during outings to the garden.
Care Closet: The Care Closet provides hygiene, food and toiletries for any student in need. Any student can request items for a one-time need or ongoing. Students/adults complete the form on paper (available in the office or from your student's teacher) or online. Bags are left with students or in the office. All requests are private and all students may request items for a one-time need or multiple times. You can use this link to request items from the Care Closet that Level 4 has organized: Care Closet Request Form
