Last week students worked on paintings that illustrate their goal they will be setting at conferences this week. We read stories about having the confidence to be yourself, knowing when you shouldn't have to change yourself to please others, and believing in your abilities. On Thursday we visited Fernhill Wetland. We observed macroinvertebrates and went on a scavenger hunt looking for animals and plants of the wetland. During math first graders used known addition facts to make solving unfamiliar addition facts easier. They organized a group of between 110-120 objects using a method that made them easy to count and keep track of. They took an assessment to see how much they learned in our first module. Second graders worked on expressing 3-digit numbers in standard form, word form, expanded form and unit form.
