For read aloud last week, we focused on the social-emotional theme of perseverance. We read about characters who kept trying even when faced with difficult challenges. For our Out & About, we got to experience an opera version of Cinderella. Students learned what went into becoming an opera singer and how actors and the production crew put together an opera. We also spent time in the Backyard Garden harvesting acorns and sunflower seeds, painting, and working to clean up the garden. On Friday, Swallows performed the Kindness Song at the All School Meeting! In math, first graders practiced addition and determining if equations were true or false. In second grade math, students practiced adding 2 and 3-digit numbers by counting on from a number by ones, tens and hundreds.
