Last week we read stories about kindness. We decorated bags for our Valentines. On Thursday we made banana bread, LoveRocks, popcorn, seed packets, tissue paper flowers, pinecone bird feeders, kindness notes, and pompom critters. On Friday we walked around town to share all of our goodies! We delivered banana bread to Forest Grove Fire Department, FG Police Department, the City Library, City Hall, and the Post Office. We took the food that we collected to the Blessing Box by UCC. We hid LoveRocks all around town. We hung our bird feeders in trees and bushes. We handed out popcorn, cards, pompom critters, packets of flower seeds, and paper flowers to people we encountered on our walk around town. We delivered the books we collected to Little Free Libraries around town. We drew chalk games and messages on sidewalk around Forest Grove. We loved hearing, "You just made my day!" and "Thank you!" and "You made me smile!" from the recipients of our kindness! In math first graders began a new measurement module. We compared objects and ordered them from shortest to tallest. We used items such as a paper plate or a popsicle stick to compare lengths. First Graders may now complete assignments through Module 4 Lesson 3. Second graders 3-dimensional shapes and polygons to see how they can be made up of smaller polygons. Second Grade students can complete any pages in their homework books through Module 3 Lesson 9.
